Wow - did you see the "Pear" LeBron James gave his fiance this past holiday season!

LeBron popped the question to long time girlfriend Savannah at a celebratory dinner at SL Nightclub at the Shelborne hotel in South Beach, co-hosted by his Heat team mate Dwyane Wade and his girlfriend Gabrielle Union an event attended by 60 or so friends, family and celebrites.

We haven't heard of a date for the wedding yet, but will let you know when we do.

We love this ring - and so in honor of LeBron and Savannah and many of the other couples celebrities and not - we are doing a special offer on this ring that we sell for our blog readers - just use coupon code "LeBron" and get 20% OFF today.

Garnets - The Fiery Red Gemstone of January

This beautiful deep red gemstone is the birthstone for January in the USA.

Garnet gets its name from the Latin word “granatus” which means grain or seed. Also it might be because garnet crystals so resembled the seeds of the pomegranate fruit.

Thought to be a stone of love and devotion and is said to protect travelers, ensuring their safe return to their loved ones.

Whilst Garnets do not have the same value as some of their contemporary cousins, such as Diamonds, Sapphires, Emeralds or Rubies, it has none-the-less been a stone that has been sought after from the earliest of records.

Garnets have many references, myths and links to history, it is said that Noah used a Garnet to guide the Ark safely in the dark and some believe Garnet's powers regulated the heart and blood flow and that it could be used as a cure for depression.

Garnets have a rating 7-7.5 on the Mohs scale.
